Hosting Infrastructure

Datacentre

Our servers are physically secured at two of Level 3's data centres. Access to the building is restricted access to authorised staff only, and access to the server room is protected by a palm scanner. Finally our racks are locked shut unless an authorised person is present.

Dell Servers

Our standard machines are high specification Dell Poweredge 2650 servers. They come with redundant network cards, power supplies and have redundant disks to either RAID 1 or RAID 5 specification. Exact machine specification can be changed up or down to suit your budget and level of redundancy required. We can of course host any machine you wish us to, as long as it meets our minimum specification level for us to support.

Monitoring

Our servers and applications are monitored in-house by our fully customisable monitoring software. This can be set to alert you or us to any server problem and to automatically carry out remedial action pre-specified by you. The monitoring software is itself monitored, and our internet connection is monitored externally, to alert any failure in internet connectivity. In addition, we can set up external monitoring of your website or application to ensure high availability.

Tape Backup

All our servers are backed up nightly to tape and we take monthly backups to an off site location. We can also offer a storage area network solution for quicker, fully customisable backups.

Firewall

Our hosting infrastructure is protected by the industry standard Checkpoint Firewall-1 on dedicated Nokia hardware. The firewall to your application can be configured to match your specification. This protects your applications from external threats, as you would expect from a leading hosting company.
